YUPIA, Apr 20:

Ujjwala Diwas under the aegis of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan was celebrated successfully in Papumpare district and LPG Panchayats were organised at Doimukh, Balijan, Sagalee and Kimin.
         

Minister, (UD, TP, UIB, Housing, Law & Justice, Land Management), Nabam Rebia graced the event as chief guest at Mani village under Doimukh Sub- Division. While addressing the people on the occasion, he congratulated the womenfolk and said that PMUY is flagship programme Govt of India to provide clean and cooking fuel to womenfolk in rural areas with the aim to empower women and improve their health condition.
       Further, he informed that under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) Rs. 1600 the cost of LPG connection is being borne by the Govt. of India and State Government is additionally bearing Rs. 990 being the cost of cooking stove so that the benefit of this scheme can be reaped even by the marginal and poorest section of society. 
      

He also highlighted the importance of usage of clean cooking fuel with regard to health, economic, safety and environment benefits. He urged the gathering to create further awareness among the eligible beneficiaries and to avail the full benefits of this welfare oriented Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. He also instructed the implementing agency (IOCL) and District Administration to ensure that benefits of the scheme reaches to maximum and rightful beneficiaries.     

The occasion also marked the release of 216 LPG connections in the district under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
         

Ujjwala Diwas was successfully observed in Balijan, Sagalee and Kimin also and LPG Panchayats were organized and were addressed by ADC Balijan, EAC Sagalee and EAC Kimin respectively and F&CS inspectors.
           Importance of Ujjwal Diwas was successfully promoted amongst the rural consumers, the safe and sustained use of LPG through peer group interactions.                 
           On the day, IOCL also informed that the villages of Kokila, Upia, Deep, Durpa – I & II, Kakoi, Emchi and Doimukh HQ are targeted for converting into smokeless villages. 
           The LPG Panchayat in Doimukh was organised by IOCL in collaboration with the District Food & Civil Supplies Department and with support from M/s Papumpare Gas Agency, Doimukh. 
      The occasion was also attended by the Under Secretary (Ministry of Agriculture, Coop & FW), Sanjay Srivastava, who is presently touring the district as central observer for different schemes under Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan. SDO Doimukh, DF&CSO, PD and District Nodal Officer (IOCL) were also present on the occasion.

 

At TAWANG,

LPG connections were issued to beneficiaries including those of selected villages under the Abhiyan. Camps were held at various villages where safety demonstrations were given and services viz. distribution of LED bulbs, issue of ST certificate, income certificate, birth certificate, enrollment under Aadhaar and social security schemes under financial inclusion were also made available.

Rahul Gosain, Director, Ministry of Electronics & IT and PK Srivastava, Under Secretary, MHRD, GoI also reached Tawang today to take stock of the activities being undertaken under the Abhiyan.

The duo accompanied by DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok visited camps at Seru and Khrimu village and interacted with the PRI members and villagers post which they also paid individual visit to households of the beneficiary villagers.

Later, a meeting was held at Circuit House Tawang with all the concerned Administrative officers and Head of Departments where current status of the coverage of 7 schemes under the Yojana at identified villages was discussed in detail.

 

At TEZU,

 

Embarking upon 100 per cent coverage of six selected villages, 12 women beneficiaries of the 24 selected were handed over with LPG connections with gas stoves today.

SDO Tezu (in charge Deputy Commissioner), Kajal Karmakar speaking about the objective of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan informed that special initiatives will be undertaken to ensure 100 percent coverage of the seven flagship schemes in the identified villages in Lohit District.

Under the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, through Ujjwala Diwas a target has been set to achieve 100 per cent coverage of PMUY in six villages that is Yealiang, Hatiduba, Chailiang, Tafragam, Loiliang, and Hucheliang, informed DF&CSO Tomo Gamlin.

Now under expanded PMUY criteria beneficiaries under Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) are also eligible for PMUY, he informed.
