TEZU, Aug 5:
Minister for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Art & Culture, and Research, Dr. Mohesh Chai today handed over LPG connections to ten beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in a function held at Amik Ringya Hall, Tezu. Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf, SP Isaac Pertin, Officials from Indian Oil, HoDs were present among others.
The Minister lauded Lohit District for becoming the first district in Arunachal Pradesh to launch the PMUY after its launch at Itanagar.
Terming the PMUY as a freedom from disease caused by using unclean fuels for cooking, Chai said that it will greatly help the BPL women who still rely on firewood for cooking purposes in the state.
DC Ashraf also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the significance of PMUY and said that the Yojana is aimed to provide LPG connections to women belonging to BPL family for clean cooking fuel. He instructed the District Food and Civil Supplies Officer to ensure maximum BPL women in the district receives the benefit of this scheme.
