ITANAGAR, Jul 22:

 

 

A one day legal awareness cum induction training of ex-servicemen personnel (ESM) as Para Legal Volunteers was conducted today by Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority here at the Conference Hall, APSLSA, Niti Vihar.

 

The programme was a part of the National Plan of Action of National Legal Services Authority to reach out to the marginalized sections of society more particularly the Ex-Servicemen personnel in the state.

 

 

With a power point presentation, Member Secretary, APSLSA Budi Habung highlighted the various roles and responsibilities of the state legal service authority in providing free legal services to needy people including that of the Para Legal Volunteers in facilitating the access to justice to the poor and weaker sections of society.

 

Deputy Secretary, Law & Judicial cum OSD, APSLSA, Dani Belo, spoke on Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme 2011 and the procedure to seek and access information under Right to Information (RTI) Act.

 

While, Gyati Kago told various welfare activities provided by the Central Government for the benefit of the Ex-Servicemen.

 

He also lamented that in spite of repeated memorandum submitted no concrete steps has been taken by the government to establish the Rajya Sainik Board (RSB).

 

He regretted that as a result of which the Ex-Servicemen and their dependents in the state are not being able to avail various schemes and facilities in comparison to their counterparts in other states.

 

Later a short film on Human Rights was also screened and legal pamphlets were distributed to participants.
