ITANAGAR, Sep 20: Reiterating its eleven point charter of demands, the Arunachal Law Student Union (ALSU) on Wednesday held a bike rally from Kankarnalah to IG Park, Itanagar, wherein about a hundred bikers chanted slogans demanding immediate  fulfillment of  their demands.

The union is demanding permanent land law, establishment of Juvenile shed and to make functional the Jote Law College etc and has served a seven day ultimatum to the government, while threatening to launch rigorous movement otherwise.

Addressing hundreds of law students at tennis court IG park, president (ALSU)Romik Jogu, expressed anguish over the indifference of  the government towards their genuine charter of demands.

He disclosed that the union approached Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and Governor on several occasions over the issue, but their demands were intentionally neglected and sidelined.

Demanding to make functional Jote Law College, Jogu said that construction of infrastructure has been completed, but the authority is yet to depute staff in the institution which is lying abandoned since last many months.

Jogu opined that the aspiring law students will not have to incur huge amount of money to study law in other states, if the institution was made functional with sufficient staffers.

Furthermore he also called for a separate Juvenile rehabilitation centre in the state capital so that wayward minors can be rehabilitated in a proper way.

Justifying its claims, Jogu alleged that due to absence of a juvenile home, minors have to stay behind bars along with serious criminal offenders, which is really a concern.

“Lokyukta must also be immediately implemented in the state to check growing corruption. Why is our CM delaying its implementation in the state,” the union further questioned.
