ITANAGAR, Feb 2: A day after Arunachal Against Corruption (AAC) demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Pema Khandu for a free & fair investigation following the Supreme Court’s directives to probe into the alleged irregular allotment of public contracts to the companies owned by his relatives, Chief Minister Pema Khandu today has categorically termed the allegations as 'politically motivated'.
Responding to the queries, Khandu emphasized that the case, dating back to 2010 and currently in the Supreme Court, had already been ruled in their favour by the Guwahati High Court Double Bench. He asserted that the accusations were baseless and driven by political motives. Khandu expressed confidence that the case, now in a Fast Track Court, would be concluded swiftly.
Meanwhile, speaking on the road network development of the capital region, CM Khandu further stated that a 30-kilometer road project, valued at Rs 300 crore, had been approved under the Ministry of Road, Transport & Highway. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity between the railway station and Hollongi Airport for the convenience of residents in the capital region and surrounding areas.
To address escalating traffic congestion, he informed that Rs 10 crore has been already allocated for the construction of an intermediate road connecting Itanagar and Naharlagun, branching from Donyi-polo road to Naharlagun. CM Khandu also mentioned that if required state government will be implementing ropeways and flyovers to improve the network communication of the state capital.
