 TAWANG, Oct 27:Chief Minister Pema Khandu was today awarded with ‘The Flower of Joy’ by the Tendhon Cultural Preservation Society (TCPS) in its 27th Anniversary Celebration held here at the general ground.

The Award, a replica of Ashoka’s Lion Emblem was awarded to the Chief Minister on behalf of the people of Monyul as deep appreciation and respect for his extraordinary leadership and achievements.

In his award citation, Tulku Tenzin Gyurmey said that ever since Khandu took over as the Chief Minister, there are visible positive changes and developments happening in all sectors. A stable government, innovations in education, social development, religion and culture, health and environment, economy and infrastructure development, welfare of the people and social stability are few to mention.

Further Gyurmey appreciated the Chief Minister of having followed the footsteps of his late father Dorjee Khandu through his hard work and unceasing dedication for the benefit of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

On the occasion, a book titled, “His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama’s 6th visit and teaching in Mon Tawang’ was jointly released by the Chief Minister and the dignitaries present. This was followed by presentation of Thangka as souvenir to the Chief Minister and other distinguished guests.

The artists from the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA), Gangkhar and Lumla Cultural Troupe presented felicitation songs and colourful cultural dances during the celebration.

Chief Minister in his address spoke on the one-year achievement of the present government. He announced that state government will soon have an MoU with TIPA to facilitate training of Buddhist arts and culture to the Monpa youths to generate interest in their age old culture.

RWD Parliamentary Secretary Jambey Tashi, Padmashree Thigtsey Rinpoche, Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi, DoKAA Chairman Jambey Wangdi, Tawang ZPC Jambey Tsering and President of TCPS Lama Nawang also spoke on the occasion.
