In a bid to provide easy access to justice to all sections of society, Judge, Gauhati High Court Justice Ajit Borthakur on Saturday inaugurated Legal Assistance Establishment office here at State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) building. He also launched SLSAs website (www.apslsa.org) and Toll Free Helpline No. 18003453153.
In his speech, Borthakur desired that the legal services authority take steps to translate the various brochures as published by the State Authority in local and vernacular languages.
He also suggested State Legal Services Authority to consider opening of Legal Aid Clinic in villages to aware GBs and HGBs about their rights & duties and suggested for translation of various court judgments for better understanding by villagers.
Administrator LAE Jumgam Jini in her address informed that the website would offer brief introduction about the working of the State Authority and District Legal Services Authorities along with their contact details.
She disclosed that a new feature called e-Application has been added in the website through which one can seek any legal advices and browse various brochures on legal rights published by the State Authority.
APSLSA, Secretary, Budi Habung, in his address briefed the working of the Legal Services Authority in the state and the role of Legal Services Authority in providing access to justice to various sections of society.
Registrar Gauhati High Court Itanagar Permanent Bench, Nani Grayu, Dy. Secy. Law & Judicial cum OSD, Dani Belo, CJM, Yupia, Tadu Tamang along with members of Bar Association and Legal Aid Counsels were present.
