PASIGHAT, Sep 12: Playing in the final of Pasighat Central Solung Football Tournament at JN Colllege playground here today, the Jonai Football Club from Jonai, Assam defeated Obang Gao (OG) Sports Club of Pasighat by 1-0 goal and walked away with the trophy and cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh.

The match had started with better dominion side from OG Sports, but soon they lost their momentum and just few minutes before 1st half, Jonai FC’s Kaurav Sonowal scored a goal in 41 minute. In the second half, players from OG  tried their best, but they missed some good opportunities which resulted in their loss.

Runner up OG Sports Club was given a cash prize of Rs. 50, 000/- with certificates. In the individual prizes, Vinod Jajowar from Jonai FC was awarded Best Player, while Dado Sam from OG Sports was Best Goalkeeper, Alo Darang from Bogong Soccer Club was Highest Scorer with total of 7 goals in the tournament and JNC Hilltop Footers won the Fair Play award.

The prizes were handed over to the winners by Chief Guest, Dani Salu, Secretary Sports & Youth Affairs, Guest of Honour, Gumja Karbak, Mission Director Khelo India cum member secretary Sport Authority of India.

The Solung sports committee with District Football Association also submitted a memorandum to the duo for construction of rostrum and spectator shed at JNC playground and for construction of a mini indoor badminton stadium, informed DFA President, General Jamoh.

On Wednesday, the last day of Solung celebration, programmes like Archery and Catapult shooting competition will be played.
