UA Minister inspects burial ground, focuses on maintenance and improvement
ITANAGAR, Jul 5: The 1st meeting of the reconstituted Joint High Power Committee on the Permanent Residential Certificate issue pertaining to the Non-APSTs residing in the district of the State was held recently at Banquet Hall in Itanagar.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Nabam Rebia, Chairman JHPC cum Minister Forest and Environment, Social Justice and Empowerment & Tribal Affairs. Members of JHPC namely Ninong Ering, MP( Lok Sabha), Tesam Pongte, MLA, Changlang, Deputy Commissioner, Papumpare district, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Changlang district, representatives of National People’s Party and People’s Party of Arunachal Pradesh, President and General Secretaries of All Arunachal Pradesh Student Union, All Papum Pare District Student Union, All Nyishi Student Union, Singpho Youth Organization also participation in the meeting.
The Member Secretary, JHPC presented a power point presentation on the PRC matter.
Rebia while informing the house of the recent Order/Judgement of the High Court, Itanagar Permanent Bench, Naharlagun said that the matter is a sensitive one and needs to be pondered seriously before coming to a decision.
In order to bring the matter of Permanent Residential Certificate to a logical conclusion we must also analyze the likely Socio-economic, Cultural and Political impact of the PRC issue on the indigenous tribal people of the State, he stressed.
The house decided that the JHPC will make spot visit for field verification and survey of the affected districts in the month of July 2018 after proper interaction with the local indigenous people and other Non-APST communities.
