PASIGHAT, Oct 22:  In a raid jointly conducted by District Police led by Dy. SP, Torum Makcha and a team of Women Against Social Evils (WASE) here on October 18 last, 2 pieces of Elephant tusk, 4 numbers of live Tokey Gecko lizards and several bottles of IMFL were seized from GTC area and JKM check gate location along Trans Arunachal Highway.

As per OC, Pasighat PS, Atan Taki, the team recovered the items from one Onyok Modi from GTC, Pasighat.

Weighting 720 grams, the elephant tusk has a market value of around 2 lakhs, while 4 Gecko lizards are also worth in lakhs, added police sources. The person concern has been detained and a case has been registered against him vide Pasighat PS Case No. 189/17 U/S 188 IPC, R/w Sec-34 of AP Excise Act, R/w Sec-51 of Wildlife Protection Act 1972, informed the police. Interrogation of the arrestee is still on and he is yet to divulge the person involved from where Modi got the ivory, the police added.

The same team also seized several bottles of illegal IMFL from JKM gate along Bodak road from a small shop.

Meanwhile, the team WASE has deeply appreciated the dedication and activeness of DySP Makcha.
