Governor chairs high-level security review meeting

ITANAGAR, Apr 2:Inspector General , North East Frontier HQ , ITBP, Itanagar, MS Rawat on Monday has stated that ITBP is well equipped and its forces well prepared to deal with any kind of situation and added that all Border Outposts (BOPs)under its jurisdiction have been tightened to beef up security in border areas.
He asserted that the Ministry of Home Affairs along with Junior Home Minister, Kiren Rijiju is taking keen interest in solving key issues confronting the forces and is very much sensitive about border affairs including strengthening the ITBP.
Rawat stated this in response to queries put forward by reporters if his forces are well organized to tackle any kind of situation confronting border security and what measures have been adopted to bring overhaul in security arrangement to make strategically important areas under its jurisdiction safe.
The ITBP Chief who attended as chief guest in an investiture ceremony held at 10th ITBP camp, stationed at Kimin also gave away DG disc and commendation rolls to 40 awardees consisting 10 officers ,23 subordinates officers and 7 other ranks.
These medals and rolls were awarded for individual acts of gallantry or distinguished service to duty performed either in operation or non operational areas. Awardees are selected on the basis of their career profile, their annual professional appraisal reports, their special work or achievement in recent past.
Delivering his address, IG, Rawat while congratulating all awardees also appreciated their selfless services rendered for the nation and welfare of people living in border areas including the organization.
He stated that such occasions should be source of inspiration for others to work harder and achieve height in their life and career. He also appreciated the newly appointed Director General (DG), R K Pachananda, who after joining brought sea change in welfare of its forces and stated that ‘under his command now ITBP forces are feeling energized and their morale has been highly boosted.’
Stating that serving the country by donning the uniform was really a matter of pride and satisfaction, Rawat also appealed the youth to join the armed forces to have a disciplined life, and those seeking a better career and wanting to serve the country with full dignity and pride.
Earlier DIG (Deputy Inspector General), Girish Chandra Upadaya, delivered the welcome address which was followed by an impressive medal drill performed by medal recipients. Commandant 10 th Bn ITBP, Kimin, Shobam Singh also spoke on the occasion.
