 YUPIA, Nov 2: Football teams from Hayuliang, Brokenthang and Huri villages lifted the ‘DG Pachnanda cup’ organised by ITBP under Civic Action Programme for border villages of Arunachal Pradesh at 31st BN ITBP, Yupia defeating Anini, Thrizino and Tcc village teams respectively.

 The winning teams walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 along with trophy, while the runners up teams bagged Rs. 10,000 each.

The first phase of the tournament was organised from September 27-October 9 last and teams from 72 border villages representing the three sectors of the state had participated. A total of 36 matches were played at various remotely located Border Out Posts of ITBP spread all over Arunachal Pradesh.

Attending the final day as Chief Guest, IG (NE FTR HQ), ITBP MS Rawat, congratulated the players for their active participation to make the tournament a grand success and conveyed his good wishes and blessing for their bright future ahead.  ‘ITBP, the largest paramilitary force in the state deserves a special congratulation for conducting the herculean task professionally in a smooth manner,’ he added.

Among others, Senior Officers of ITBP, DIG SK Sharma, DIG Nirbhai Singh, DIG GC Upadhyay, Commandant PN Prasad, respected elders from neighbouring villages and numerous sports enthusiasts witnessed the closing ceremony of the weeklong event.
