ITANAGAR, Oct 30: Along with the rest of the country, the Directorate of Small Savings in collaboration with National Saving Institute, Ministry of Finance, Guwahati observed the World Thrift Day in a befitting manner by organizing a state level seminar here at administrative training institute Hall, Naharlagun on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, Director of small savings, Md . Abdul Basit stressed the need for savings for national development and urged the agents to be more equipped with latest rules and regulations of small savings schemes.

He also asked the agents to give awareness to the public about thrift, develop the habit of savings and avoid investment in chit funds which are unsecured.

The programme concluded with distribution of certificates to agents who secured first, second and third position in the state on small savings collection.
