TEZU, Oct 24:Indira Gandhi Government College celebrated its 28th College Day with a plethora of activities today. Attending the inaugural function as Chief Guest, Minister Animal Husbandry Dairy Development, Art& Culture, Dr Mohesh Chai lauded the efforts of the College community for taking the institution to new heights of academic excellence.

He exhorted the students to carry forward the golden traditions of the institution imbibing the sense of discipline and respect for the teachers.

In view of the drug menace in society, the Minister appealed the students to stay away from drugs and concentrate on their studies to fulfil the dreams of their parents.

Reiterating the recent decision of the State Cabinet to develop Indira Gandhi Government College as an education hub, he informed that four educational institutions are going to be established inside the College campus.

Responding to the basic needs and infrastructure constraints, Dr Chai assured to pursue the matter at higher level.

He also assured to pursue for opening up of Post Graduate courses at the earliest and also promised to help the institution with classroom furniture as well as with other logistic support.

On the day, Dr. Chai remembered the contributions and painstaking efforts of former Minister of Education, Khapreso Krong, because of whom the IGG College was established in Tezu which further  facilitated the indigenous community of eastern part of the State in getting access to higher education.

Deputy Commissioner Lohit District, Karma Leki and Superintendent of Police Isaac Pertin also attended the function as Guest of Honour and Special Guest respectively.

Principal of the College, Dr. Tasi Taloh sought the support of the stakeholders to properly develop the Indira Gandhi Government College Tezu as an education hub in eastern part of the state.

General Secretary Siramso Pul also spoke on the occasion.
