YINGKIONG, Oct 9:In addition to its primary task of defending the borders, Indian Army in Arunachal Pradesh is also making special effort to improve the life standards of the people in the area where it operates. Along similar lines, the 3 Mahar Regiment under Siang Brigade in collaboration with District Administration is planning to organise ‘Tuting Festival’ to highlight the cultural, religious and tourism potential of Tuting circle and to enhance the bond between the local populace and the Army in Upper Siang District. The Festival shall be encompassing a number of events to include Swachhta Abhiyan and local fare including a fete by Civilian & Army. The event commenced with ‘swachhta abhiyaan’ on October 2 last.

The Army, civil population and civil authorities in the area are making an earnest effort to make the Tuting Festival a success so that the far-flung and remote areas of Tuting circle are highlighted as an adventure and cultural tourism destination.
