ZIRO, Jan 18:A hunter was arrested with a clouded leopard Wednesday night from Swkhe-bo forest near Old Ziro and booked under Wildlife Protection Act 1972.

The arrest was made after, the All Tajang Youth Association (ATYA), Ziro caught the person with the carcass and handed them over to the Police and forest personnel. 

Officer In-charge Police Station Ziro, Inspector Phassang Simi, confirmed the development and informed that the Hapoli Forest Division has lodged an FIR against the hunter.

‘Accordingly a case has been registered U/S 51 of Wildlife Protection Act 1972 against the hunter who has been identified as Rakhe Pumbo of Rakhe village under Kumporijo Circle,’ he added. 

The clouded leopard is an endangered animal.
Later, the carcass was burnt at Hapoli Range office premises after postmortem in presence of EAC Hage Tarung, OC Ziro Phassang Simi, Dy. Range Officer Talley Wildlife Range, Ngilyang Pampi, members of ATYA and media persons.
