TAWANG, Aug 27:In a major boost to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 249 new leaders from 1-Lumla ST constituency joined the saffron party at a function held at the official residence of local MLA Jambey Tashi on Saturday.

The new members showered praise and expressed deep admiration for the party ideology and principles. "Impressive leadership qualities and exemplary work of Lumla MLA Jambey Tashi and his team has convinced us to switch over to the BJP and many more are expected to follow suit in the days to come", they informed, during the interaction session. 

Welcoming the new inducts, Parliamentary Secretary for RWD and SDE, Jambey Tashi highlighted that BJP is a party with striking similarities in principles with Buddhism like kindness, compassion and trust and called on the members to live up to its disciplines and  principles. Stressing on inculcating trust, faith and confidence, he warned them against making divisive statements and indulging in anti-party activities. 

Further, he advocated for shouldering collective and inclusive efforts  for the social, cultural and economical transformation and development of the region and exploring its tremendous tourism, agricultural and horticultural potential. 

"My efforts have always been and will always be to ensure impartial implementation of central and state government programmes at all levels. I am profoundly conscious of the predicaments of my people and making constant efforts to redress them," he added.

BJP District Vice President Tsering Tashi, District Executive Member Jowa Tsering, Lumla Mandal President Tashi Raptan, Lumla ZPM Lobsang Yonten, former Dudunghar-Zemithang ZPM Sang Norbu,  Zemithang Anchal Chairperson Dorjee Gyentsen and  Lumla Yuva Morcha President Sonam Topgey also deliberated in the meeting.
