ITANAGAR, Aug 9:The East Siang District Students Union today took out a massive candlelight vigil from Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar to Solung Mopin Ground demanding police to expedite the case of late Ojing Taying, who was brutally murdered by unknown persons here at Itanagar on June 10 last.

About a hundred participated in the rally to register their support for speedy investigation and bringing all perpetrators behind bars to give justice to the aggrieved family.

Speaking at the sidelines of the programme, Secretary AdiSU, East Siang District unit, Yon Taki expressed displeasure over the delay in arresting the assailants, who are roaming freely after committing the crime and demanded the authority to relieve the parents from pain and sorrow by arresting the person behind the murder.

“More than a month has passed but police are still clueless about the assailants. How many more days will it take to arrest the culprits and police should answer us for the delay,” Yon added.

Also taking a dig at the Police department for its inability to maintain law and order in the state, Taki urged the Home Department to come up with better planning to contain the increasing crimes in the state capital and bring an end to crime so that, no innocent lives are lost.

The union also cautioned to take up democratic means of protest to register their plea for early arrest of the assailants.

Meanwhile the grieving father, Jiten Taying has also echoed similar sentiments and appealed for fair and speedy investigation into the case in particular to the Chief Minster.

Informing that earlier he had met Home Minister Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister Pema Khandu regarding the case, Taying said ‘no breakthrough has been made by police and it is getting unbearable especially for us wondering if my son will ever get justice.’

Further Jiten Taying claimed that one of the witnesses, a girl who was present during the incident, happens to know the attackers.  ‘She had said unofficially that if she revealed the name of the attackers they will kill her and so she fear for her life,’ the father claimed.

Corroborating the claim made by the father of the deceased, another victim of the June 10 incident, Ojong Aje, dwelt on the happenings of the night in detail to media persons and alleged that the Investigating Officer is denying to look into the information provided by the victim’s family.

When contacted, IO, RK Jha further informed that a sketch artist has been recommended from Kolkata and will arrive in mid August and as of now the investigation is going on.

Members from Boring Welfare Society, Taying Welfare Society, Legong Banggo Student Union, East Siang DSU and ABK etc participated in the rally.
