KHONSA, Mar 22: An orphaned Himalayan black bear cub aged 1 year was rescued by one a prominent public figure Yangwok Hodong of Lazu from the villagers of Chinhan near Indo-Myanmar international border and was formally handed over to Range Officer of Lazu Forest Range recently. The healthy bear cub fondly named “Ollo” by the villagers was fed and cared by Yangwok Hodong for last two months.
As desired by the villagers of Lazu, “Ollo” was successfully trans-located to Mini Zoo, Miao and was handed over to Zoo Administration led by Field Director, Namdapha NP & PTR and Gora Kumar, Range Officer, Miao Mini Zoo for better upkeep.
It is worth mentioning that now a days, the Himalayan Black bear has become endangered due to hunting and is rarely found in the jungles of Tirap District in particular.
