KHONSA, Oct 30: Hawk-16 FC lifted the 3rd Thansen Wangchadong Memorial Football Tournament by defeating Borduria FC by a margin of 2:1 during a jam-packed match here at Nehru Stadium on Monday.

Addressing the huge crowd, Chief Guest, MLA, Phurpa Tsering congratulated all the winning teams and appreciated the organizing committee.

Paying homage to Rani Maa Late Thansen Wangchadong, Tsering appreciated Adviser to CM cum MLA Wanglin Lowangdong for initiating for up gradation of Zonal General Hospital, Khonsa, for which Rs. 5 crore has already been sanctioned.

He opined that the up gradation will definitely help the poor patients of the district to avail the needed medical facility for which once they had to travel to Assam incurring huge expenditures.

Furthermore he also announced sanction for construction of Nehru Stadium at Khonsa and assured to provide a vehicle for Khonsa General Hospital.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by organizing committee 3rd TWMFT, Guest of Honour, Kumsi Sidisow announced a water tank for Nehru Stadium, Khonsa and construction of EE (PHE&WS) office building at Khonsa.

The winning team, HAWK-16 FC received Rs 1 lakh along with a trophy and runner ups Borduria FC walked away with Rs 50,000. Poakkom FC was adjudged best discipline team of the tourney and received a cash prize of Rs. 15,000. Borduria FC’s Wangdian Lowangdongchhu was adjudged the best player of the tournament and Nadi Matey of the same team as best goal keeper.
