ITANAGAR, AUG 12: The Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) termed the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign , a "total scam" and another means of corruption by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led central government.
Addressing reporters at the press club, President  APYC  Tarh Johny  said “We appreciate and support the programme but  ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative launched by the BJP-led central government is a total scam."  He further alleged that  the BJP government is running a business through the campaign by selling the national flag in the market for Rs. 25.
The APYC also claimed that, as part of the campaign the Arunachal Pradesh government has to pay an amount of Rs. 56,50,000 to Shahi Exports Private Limited which has been appointed as vendor to supply flags to the state by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. The Youth wing of Congress also said that the quality of the flags is very poor, and that it demeans the dignity of national flag.
"Earlier, the Panchayati Raj department had issued a circular to the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of 15 districts of the state to supply national flag to the public while directing that flags have to be purchased at the cost of Rs. 25 a piece taking the total amount payable to Rs. 56,50,000," Johny informed.
Regarding this APYC has submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary appealing not to disburse the amount, he added.
APYC has also appealed the Chief Secretary to issue an order directing to place the national flag in a respectful way and to take action against those who disrespect the national flag.
Meanwhile, the APYC also highlighted the order banning cow transportation through the Lower Subansiri district due to outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in few districts of the state and called for its withdrawal.
" FMD is a seasonal disease and can be taken care by the district veterinary officers. The DC must revoke the order as five districts that pass through Lower Subansiri are facing problems of beef supply due to non-availability of meat," he said.
The APYC also demanded immediate maintenance of road portion near Heema Hospital, Itanagar, while highlighting poor road condition of the particular stretch.
