PASIGHAT, Oct 30:  GSS Kiyit defended its title by winning the football final (boys) of the 2nd Annual Upper Primary School Level Games & Sports Meet-2017 today. The defending champion defeated Don Bosco by 2-0 and became second time champion in a row. Don Bosco School’s Borjing Perme was declared Best Player of the tournament in Boys category.

In the girl’s football, UPS Namsing outscored KGBV Motum in a tie-breaker.

In his speech Guest of Honour, DC, East Siang Tamiyo Tatak recalled his struggle growing up and advised the students to persevere to achieve in life and also counselled on many issues confronting young students.

As an encouragement, the DC assured cash awards for toppers of Class-V, VIII and X for students of Mebo Sub-Division.

Assuring all help for grooming students in sports as well, Lombo Tayeng hinted that construction of mini stadium in Kiyit school field would begin shortly to facilitate sporting events. In addition to Rs. 5 lakhs annual funding for the event, he also volunteered to provide more fund to facilitate students in the field of sports which has became a good career option today.

Earlier, event Chairman, retired Director, Elementary Education, Bodong Yirang in his speech credited the sports meet as the brainchild of DDSE, East Siang, Jongge Yirang and expressed gratitude for support from all corners.
