BASAR, Aug 8:The GRK Football Academy conducted its first phase of selection for coaching among students below 10 years at Basar, Dari and Tirbin circle from August 1-4 last. Out of a total 120 enthusiastic students who took part in the selections, 30 have been selected for undergoing coaching in the academy.

The coaching session will start from August 16 next and trainees will be provided coaching, football kits and complementary diet for free.

The academy has signed contract with Nyamar Loyi as the coach, an alumnus of SAI, he played for clubs like Mumbai FC, BMFC Chennai, Guwahati Town Club and Langsigning FC, Shillong. He also represented the state four times in the Santosh Trophy.

In the words of Karto Bam, Secretary of GRK Football Academy, “The academy visualizes to have at least 10 football players from Basar area at national and international level in 10 years.”                  

GRK Football Academy is an initiative of Gumin Rego Kilaju (GRK) which is an apolitical and non profit making organization of government employees of Basar, West Siang District. In order to widen its scope of activities for development of Basar area and also keeping in view the popularity and prospects of football as career, GRK Football Academy was established in the year of 2017. The academy aims to identify the talented and potential football players of Basar area at an early age and nurture them with professional and quality coaching so as to provide platform for their selection at national and international level. The academy also promotes football as a part of discipline and healthy lifestyle among youths.
