NAHARLAGUN, Dec 21:

After expiry of its seven day ultimatum to the government demanding for a separate Department for Abo Tani Clans, the Abo Tani Clan Organisation (ATCO) on Thursday held a massive motor vehicle rally in protest against the irresponsive attitude of the government toward its demands.

Hundreds of volunteers and supporters including well wishers shouting slogans demanding resignation of CM Pema Khandu participated in the rally which started from Kankarnallah,  Naharlagun and culminated here at Tennis court, Itanagar.

Addressing media persons, ATCO President Yamra Taya said that the state government betrayed and broke their trust by creating Department of Indigenous Affairs (DIA) instead of a separate department for Abo Tani Tradition & Culture Affairs (DATCA).

Also objecting the proposed creation of 100 posts of Bodhi teachers, Taya criticized the Pema led Government for spending crores for refugees while neglecting other teacher’s needs and the development of other AboTani districts.

"There should be no “pick & choose policy” decision on any vernacular language in the state. And creation of Bodhi Teachers will be like depriving the other indigenous languages in the state and we will never allow it,” he added.

Meanwhile, the organization also expressed resentment over the derogatory remark by the Chief Minister inside the State Assembly.
