Governor BD Mishra reviewed the implementation of national flagship programmes in the districts of the state with the Deputy Commissioners through video conference from Raj Bhavan on Friday.
In his maiden video conference with district officials, the Governor emphasised that fruits of development must reach to the man in the last rung of society. He enquired about status of various flagship programmes in education, health and rural development sectors including Aadhar linking, Open defecation free, connectivity and development of border villages as model villages.
The Governor advised the officials to be proactive and work with innovation to harness the best potential available for the development of their district. The Governor suggested for soil testing in border villages to assess the possibility of growing Akhrot (walnut) and Chilgoza (pine nut) in best suitable altitude locations. He informed that certain European countries have developed hybrid varieties of walnut, which will be very beneficial for the state’s villagers as this variety starts giving fruits within 4 years of plantation.
The Governor also asked the Deputy Commissioners to facilitate the pre-recruitment training for Indian Army Recruitment in the District so that maximum numbers of youth can join the Army. It may be mentioned here that at the initiative of the Governor, pre-recruitment training which was planned for only two districts, will now be conducted in all the districts of the state.
The district officers, while expressing their gratitude to the Governor for giving them an opportunity to interact with him and assured their best endeavour to rise to the occasion and meet the expectations of the people. They also thanked him for selecting the remotest border villages for model village development.
