TEZU, Aug 5:

 

In his second leg of his four-day two-district tour, Governor PB Acharya arrived at Tezuon Saturday accompanied by First Lady Kavita Acharya and Secretary to Governor Vinod P Kavle.

 

The Governor was received at Tezu by the local MLA and Minister Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Dr. Mohesh Chai and was given a traditional reception by various communities.

 

Earlier, the Governor visited Parasuram Kund and interacted with the local community of Wakkro.

He called upon the people to make it vibrant religious tourism destination. Acharya said that along with the government, the local community must also contribute as, once it is established in a big way, the communities near the area will be economically benefited.

 

Responding to a memorandum, the Governor assured to take up concrete step towards the Kund after discussing with the Chief Minister.

 

The Governor gave solar lamps from the District Administration of Lohit for the Parasuram Kund Mandir, to the Head Priest on the occasion

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf briefed the Governor on the Hindu pilgrimage site. 

 

 

 

Continuing his effort in reaching out to the people from all walks of life, the Governor met the members of business community at Namsai. He advised them to contribute towards the welfare of the society where they are earning their livelihood.

The Governor advised them to create awareness on central and State Governments’ welfare schemes and programmes. Enrol at least five individuals under Jan Dhan yojana. He also asked them to sponsor school children and provide assistance to the government schools.

The business community also shared their challenges in the district.

The Governor expressed his deep concern about drug addiction in the District. He said that the deficiency and default of the educated empowered people have resulted in the present situation. He called upon the people to stand united against drug menace.

The first couple also visited the Buddhist Monastery at Namsai and offered prayers and met the Monks.

 

Interacting with the head priest and other monks, the Governor requested them to create awareness against drug addiction in the villages. He said that drug menace is crippling the society and each and every one must shoulder responsibility in its eradication.

As the National Ambassador (Nav Ratna) for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Governor participated in the cleanliness drive in the morning. He was joined by the First Lady, government officials, security personnel and students.

The Governor called upon the people to instil cleanliness as a second nature. It should begin from home. Along with clean environment, we must try to clean our mind too, he added.

Later the Governor flagged off the ‘Open Defecation Free’ mission organised by Public Health Engineering department.

The Governor visited the District Hospital and Government ANM School at Namsai. Interacting with the doctors and staffs, the Governor called for optimum utilization of infrastructure and resources.

The Governor also addressed the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Namsai and congratulated them for the good results in CBSE.

Advising the students, the Governor said that the benefit of their empowerment though education must go to the society. They must imbibe skill along with degrees.

India has great potential and you are the soldiers. Your education must make our State Golden, he exhorted.

The Governor exhorted them to be proud of the cultural heritage, dialect and traditions.

Before leave Namsai District, the Governor visited the famed Golden Pogoda at Tengapani. He expressed hope that it will give another thrust towards religious tourism in the State.
