ITANAGAR, Aug 23:Governor PB Acharya met the five selected students from Puroik Community who will be shortly joining the Alva’s College of Nursing, Vidyagiri, Moodubidire, Karnataka, for General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course at Raj Bhavan today. Director, Social Justice, Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, Yumlum Kaha was present in the meeting.

More than the academic education, one should strive towards strengthening the emotional and national integration of the country, he exhorted. During the nursing course, they will be introduced to local families where they will have the opportunity to interact with them which will be a positive step for national character.

It may be mentioned here that on the initiative of the Governor Acharya and motivated by Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC), an NGO from Mumbai, the Alva’s Educational Foundation, Moodbidri is providing free tuition, accommodation and conveyance within the college campus for the selected students during their entire four years course as a good will gesture towards the people of North Eastern States.

As a welfare state, the State Government is bearing the fooding and to & fro journey expenses of the students from the Puroik Community.
