ITANAGAR, Jan 17:Governor BD Mishra visited the Orchid Research Centre, Tipi, West Kameng District today. Accompanied by the First Lady of the State Smt Neelam Misra, the Governor visited the orchid glass house, species house, orchid museum, tissue culture laboratory and orchid herbarium. Official of Orchid Research Centre, N Nyorak briefed the Governor about the centre.

Interacting with the officials and scientists, the Governor advised them to promote and propagate the new techniques in orchid farming and help the people and promote it, if feasible, on commercial scale to help the flower growers to enhance their income and their financial empowerment through it.

Exhorting the officials to be proactive and result orientated in their approach to realize the objective of the Research Centre, the Governor asked them to impart training to the villagers on orchid propagation. He emphasized that the technologies must be perfected to suit the local cultivation and wider market demands.

‘The research successes in this field must be transferred from the laboratory to the field, as promptly as possible,’ he opined.

Chief Conservator of Forest cum Director, Orchid Research Centre, Tipi, Dusu Sera, along with forest officials were present on the occasion.
