ITANAGAR, Oct 18:Governor BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have extended Deepavali greetings to the people of the state.

In his message, the Governor said that Deepawali, the Festival of Lights celebrates the triumph of righteousness and victory of good over evil within every human being. He prayed that this Deepavali illuminates the lamp of knowledge and understanding amongst the people.

While reposing his faith that people of Arunachal Pradesh will maintain Swachh Bharat Spirit during the celebration, the Governor has appealed to all to avoid pollution to the pristine environment of the State.

May this occasion spread happiness and prosperity in every home across our State, the Governor wished.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a message this evening, wished that the festival of lights will light up the lives of each Arunachalee and usher Arunachal Pradesh into a brighter tomorrow.

“Arunachal Pradesh, though a late starter, is progressing fast with the contributions of every citizen, irrespective of profession and category. It’s my firm belief that the Team Arunachal spirit will shine brighter this Diwali and inspire us to work with renewed vigour for development, peace and prosperity. I also hope the festival of lights will drive away the darkness of corruption, disharmony and disunity in whatever small traces still prevailing in our society,” Khandu expressed hope.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister appealed people not to get carried away with the celebrations and maintain caution while lighting lamps and crackers. He also requested elders and parents to take care of children besides upholding the sanctity of the festival by not infringing into others rights by crackers and loud noise.

“This is a festival to enjoy with everybody. Let’s make this Diwali safer, pollution free and a celebration of our unity amidst our diversity,” he appealed.
