ITANAGAR, Dec 24:

Governor BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have conveyed warm greetings and good wishes to the people of the State on the occasions of Christmas and Good Governance Day.

In his message to the people on the auspicious occasion of Christmas, the Governor said that Christmas, the festival of light and love is the occasion for fraternity, joy and promotion of good will.

The Governor further wished the people on Good Governance Day which coincides with the Christian holiday and commemorates the birthday of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, one of India’s distinguished leaders and former Prime Minister.

On the Day of Good Governance, our government reiterates its resolve to provide transparent and accountable administration which works for the betterment and welfare of the last man in the social order (Antyodaya). I am confident that the Good Governance Day will motivate all, our public representatives and government officials in particular, to rise to the expectation of the people through probity, rectitude and efficient Governance, the Governor said in his message.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his sincerest greetings on the joyous occasion of Christmas, a festival that spreads the message of love, harmony and peace beyond boundaries and religious affinities.

“It sure is a time to get showered with gifts and wishes, but in midst of all the jubilations, we should not forget the real spirit of Christmas. Christmas is not only about fun and gifts, but of love and generosity,” he said in a message on Christmas Eve.

Khandu called upon all, irrespective of religious affiliations, to remember all who, in their own ways and capacities, make the world a better place to live in but are least thanked.

“This Christmas, let us bring joy to others with an act of kindness,” he said.

The Chief Minister expressed faith that this Christmas celebration would open up the doors of wisdom and the enlightenment that peace and development go hand in hand.

“As we celebrate the birthday of our lord Jesus Christ, it is my fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace. And we all move ahead, hand-in-hand without a hitch, towards development,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also wished everyone on the occasion of Good Governance Day.
