ITANAGAR, Nov 6: Former Member of Legislative Assembly Jobom Basar, 67, passed away on Saturday. Late Basar, had represented the 29-Basar Assembly Constituency. 

Governor BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have mourned his demise.

The Governor has conveyed his sincere and heartfelt condolence to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for strength at this difficult time.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a condolence message this evening, paid rich tributes to the late leader and asserted that his presence will be missed by the young generation and people of Basar constituency, which he represented as an Independent MLA in 1996.

“Late Basar, hailing from a very interior village Nyigam, went on to become a member of the prestigious Assembly. He will always be remembered as one of the pioneers of Arunachalee society and his contributions to give a shape and identity to Arunachal politics will be cherished forever,” he said.

Khandu regretted that another one of the pioneers of Arunachal, the first generation torch-bearers, has left for heavenly abode and called upon the younger generation to follow their footsteps and dedicate themselves to take the state to newer heights.

“I believe, leaving this mortal world will not diminish the love and affection showered on late Basar and his family by the people and his soul will remain immortal, so would his footsteps and the contributions made as a social activist and politician par excellence,” Khandu added while praying Lord Buddha to bestow Late Basar’s family and relatives with strength to bear the irreparable loss and for peace of the departed soul.
