ITANAGAR, Apr 23:Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed deep anguish and shock over the death of soldiers of the Madras Regiment when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into the Kundil River while crossing a bridge near Iduli village in Lower Dibang Valley district early Sunday morning.

Three soldiers died after the army vehicle carrying 11 personnel met with the accident.

Extending solidarity with the bereaved family members of the deceased soldiers and personnel of the Madras regiment, Khandu said he was grief-stricken by the news.

The Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured soldiers, who are reportedly recuperating at the Chapakhowa CHC in nearby Assam.

Governor BD Mishra also conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased army personnel.

 “My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the deceased soldiers, in this hour of grief, and I pray for the secure future of their kith and kin”, the Governor, who served as a Brigadier in the Madras Regiment said.

“On behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh and on my own behalf, I convey my condolences and pray for the eternal peace for the departed souls. I also pray for speedy recovery of the injured personnel of the Battalion”, the Governor said in his message to the Commanding Officer of 20th Battalion of The Madras Regiment.
