ITANAGAR, Nov 26:
‘Ramailo Tihar’ the festival of lights and second biggest festival of Gorkhas community was celebrated with gaiety where thousands of Gorkhas living in the different districts of the state came together at Dree ground on Sunday being organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Gorkha Youth Welfare Association (APGYWA).
Amused with the hospitality of the Gorkhas and attending as Chief Guest MLA Takam Pario in his address praised the contribution of Gorkha soldiers and the community as a whole towards national development. ‘The dedication, labour, support, and strength of Gorkha Regiment in national security has always been a proud thing for our nation, which cannot be forgotten,’ Pario said.
Also attending as the Guest of Honour, Bordumsa-Diyun MLA Nikh Kamin also lauded the role and achievements of Gorkha community in and around the twin capital for their cleanliness drive ‘Swachh Hi Jivan Hai’ and blood donation camp among other.
Expressing gratitude to Home Minister Kumar Waii, who donated a land for the Mandir during last celebration, APGYWA, President Shyam Ghatani urged upon the chief guest for construction of an Ashram attached with the Mandir, for helping out distress people of their community.
Chief Patron Borum ZPM Techi Tolu, Organising committee Vice Chairman Chanbir Sonar, Organising Secretary Ramesh Chetry and Capital Unit President Raju Chetry attend the occasion.
Prasant Tamang of Indian Idol fame and his team and several other cultural teams entertained the audience.
