ITANAGAR, Aug 25:Along with rest of the country, the Ganesh Chaturthi was observed at Shiv Mandir, Raj Bhavan Complex, Itanagar with traditional gaiety and fervour today. People from all walks of life, including indigenous followers of Donyi Polo and Buddhism followers attended ‘Sarva Dharma Kirtan’ with the concept of ‘New India’.

Amid chanting of mantras, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, PB Acharya offered prayers, and observed that the prayer centres like temples should not be only for spiritual upliftment, but also for the unity of society.

Governor has formed a thirteen Member Committee including local residents of Donyi Polo and Buddhism followers for the smooth running of the Temple. Governor’s wife is the permanent Chairperson of the Committee.  It is decided that at least two functions of festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Solung, Buddha Jayanti etc. are to be held. The devotee committee Members will meet and attend at least once in a month and work out the programme.
