ITANAGAR, Aug 17:Non-cooperation movement was launched by the Galo Students Union(GSU), Galo Youth Organization (GYO) and Galo People's Front (GPF) boycotting the Independence Day celebrations over the non-functionalization of Lower Siang District on August 15.

Terming the protest as a total success, the organizations in a press release informed that there was complete boycott of Independence Day celebration by the entire public and students of 28th Likabali AC and 36th Nari Koyu AC with zero attendance of the locals in the celebrations. Even in the schools and offices in these areas, no public function was held.

The organizations meanwhile have strongly urged the state government not to play further with the sentiments of the people and questioned as to why the district is not made functional even after submitting of GoM report.

The government should immediately post DC and SP for Lower Siang, the release added.
