SEPPA, Oct 31:Immediate Downstream Affected Peoples’ Forum (IDAPF) has submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, East Kameng urging him to restrain any kind of hydro activities over Pachi River, failing which the forum has threatened to launch democratic movement.

For last seven years, villagers persistently opposed the Phanchung HEP (46MW) of East Kameng through memorandum and public meeting, stated a release.

“Existing of two dams within a span of one kilometre is an insane decision made by the state government as the proposed project is just one kilometre away from a bigger one that is Tallong Londa HEP (226MW) over Kameng River. Moreover it poses a serious threat to both men and environment on wide scale,” said Doyak Singhi, Advisor, IDAPF
