ITANAGAR, Jul 13: Former BJP Councilor of Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) Gora Lotak claimed that IMC has mismanaged crores of rupees meant for Individual Household Toilets sanctioned under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme by the Central government.

Addressing  presspersons here today, Lotak  alleged that funds worth Rs 200 cr sanctioned in 2015 for  IHHT  and other development activities  were never used  but to everyone’s utter surprise  IMC has submitted  Utilization Certificate for the same on  January 5, 2018 . ‘How can they submit Utilization Certificate when not a single IHHT has been built yet in any of the 30 wards, moreover if funds have not been used then where has the amount gone,’ questioned Lotak.

He further informed that as per the norms each household has to get Rs 4800 for construction of IHHT but till date not a single household has received any cash benefits neither items nor support for construction of IHHT.

“In this regard I have already met the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and sought his intervention on the issue,” added the former Councilor.

‘The issue is not new for both IMC and concerned departments as I had already apprised the situation on numerous occasions and also in my press conference,” he stated

While  demanding enquiry on the entire episode, Lotak said:  “Mismanagement  occurred under the very nose of the state government , so I appeal to the state government to  constitute a Special Investigation Team or handover the case to CBI to unearth the truth   within next ten days failing which I will file PIL against the IMC.”
