ITANAGAR, May 2:The First Lady of the State, Neelam Misra visited the Research and Designing Centre, Doimukh, one of the oldest industrial centres under the Department of Textile and Handicrafts on Tuesday and interacted with the officials, craftsmen, instructors and trainees.
She exhorted them to promote the traditional designs with innovation to add value to the traditionally produced articles. She also exhorted them for returning the intricate and time-honoured weaving designs with beads and silk threads.
While appreciating the quality of products at the centre, she urged the officials to work with enthusiasm for better output and good working ambience for efficiency training and innovation. Emphasising that only a fraction of the selling price for their product goes to artisans, the First Lady said that efforts are needed to cut the unjustified middle links. She encouraged the artisans, particularly the trainees to strive hard and develop entrepreneurship and be self supporting market person.
