PASIGHAT, Jan 21:Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Government of India, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Pasighat unit organized a mega rally-cum awareness campaign on Agriculture at Sika Bamin village of East Siang district under the banner of Special Outreach Programme (SOP) on January 19 last. The main objective of the programme was to create awareness among the farmers about the flagship schemes of farmer’s welfare.

       Speaking as chief guest, local MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture & Fisheries, Tatung Jamoh said that agriculture is the most important department and without agriculture there is no life, so farmers should have to be progressive to eat and earn from the farms. He informed that there are many flagship schemes for farmer’s welfare launched by the Central as well as State governments in last few years, like Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY), Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana (RKVY), Chief Minister Krishi Reen Yojana (CMKRY), Chief Minister Agriculture Mechanization Programme (CMAMP) etc.

‘Farmers have to consult with Agriculture Department to get benefit from such schemes,’ he said also stressing on National Food Security Mission (NFSM) scheme and Soil Health Card.

Speaking as resource person, Agriculture Development Officer, Pasighat, Oni Panyang, elaborated on  Soil Health Card which has been initiated by PM Narendra Modi to improve fertility of soil for increased production of crops. She further informed about National Food Security Mission (NFSM) scheme and urged farmers to avail the scheme under which they are entitled to get various types of seeds like Paddy, Maize etc. as well as pesticides from agriculture department.

More than 300 farmers including PRI members, HGB, GB and villagers took part in the programme. Mass awareness rally, photo exhibition, Film Show, group dance, quiz competition, interaction with farmers were the other activities of daylong event.
