ITANAGAR, Feb 28: The Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve authority today carried out eviction drive to evict fresh encroachers along the Miao-Vijoynagar between 25 mile area up to 52 mile area inside the Park.
Since the construction work of Miao -Vijoynagar road began, new dwellings have started mushrooming near the road, park authorities say.
A team led by Field Director, Aduk Paron and accompanied by Range Forest Officer, Gandhigram Wildlife Range, Yowa Son Hade and field staff on Monday dismantled and removed three illegally constructed structures around 40 Mile area. Earlier on February 9 last, show cause notices were served to the illegal dwellers to vacate the area which lapsed on February 25.
With a zero tolerance approach towards illegal encroachment, the Field Director, Namdapha National Park reiterated that such eviction drives will continue until the Biodiversity hot-spot area is free from illegal settlers.
Further, the Field Director reiterated that there are eight numbers of recognised encroached villages within the core/critical Tiger habitat of the Park and re-settlement dialogue will continue only with the villages recognized by the government and actions will be initiated as per provisions of Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972 if there is further attempt by new settlers to settle inside the park area.
