ITANAGAR, Jun 7: Mountaineers Kishon Tekseng and Taka Tamut from Arunachal Pradesh who had achieved the rare feat by scaling Mt Everest without any sherpas, were given a warm welcome here today at Akashdeep.
Speaking to the media, Tekseng, said ‘It was a tough job to scale Everest without any Sherpa(Guides) but determination to achieve the goal for the state and country made us climb to the top’.
‘As every sportsman wants to play the world championships, mountaineers too dream of conquering the world’s highest peak, and we did it,’ said Taka Tamut.
We are thankful to the department of Sports & Youth Affairs who supported us as a result we completed the two month journey that started on April 7 last. However from base camp it took only 15 days to reach Everest, normally it takes at least one month, he added.
Tekseng from Yingkiong in Upper Siang district and Tamut, hailing from Jomlo Mongku in Siang district scaled the world's highest peak on May 24. Both reached the peak at 9 am and unfurled the national tricolor.
