 ITANAGAR, Sep 8:A meeting was chaired by Dr. Joram Begi, Chief Information Commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission under the initiative of 16th Yachuli Assembly Constituency legislator and Parliamentary Secretary (Transport), Likha Saaya at Ashoka Hotel on September 7 last to sort out issues if any, for the formal functioning of Divisional Commissioner and DIGP (West) at Yachuli latest by November first week.

Early on in the meeting, Saaya while proposing the name of Dr Begi as the chairman of the meeting and highlighting on the aims and objectives of the meeting, went on to inform that the confusion surrounding the naming of Yupia, the district headquarters of Papum Pare as the temporary site for setting up the Divisional Commissioner and DIGP (West) office has been cleared after the government constituted committee under Urban Development Minister Nabam Rebia visited Yachuli and recommended for the same.

Here, Saaya while expressing his gratitude to the committee head Rebia for making a quick assessment and subsequently giving a positive nod in support of Yachuli, went on to heap praises on the incumbent government and its leadership such as Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and the entire state cabinet for working towards establishing the Divisional Commissioner and DIGP (West) office at Yachuli, which according to Saaya is ‘a dream, which has been awaited by the locals for the last 19 years.’

Also informing that he is currently in talks with the state government to finalise November 7 later this year as the date for formal inauguration of the Divisional Commissioner and DIGP (West) office, Saaya also strongly directed all stakeholders, particularly of Yachuli area, to cooperate with the government and the administration in land acquisition process and avoid any room for complicities in the later stage.

Meanwhile in the meeting, various speakers, which included ZPMs of Yachuli, Yazali, and Pistana, representatives of Nyishi Elite Society (NES)-Lower Subansiri district unit, All Yachuli Students’ Union (AYSU), Yachuli Constituency Employees Forum (YCEF), president of All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU), former Minister Toko Takam, Tani Supun Dukun representative Dani Gambo and public leader Likha Maj, univocally endorsed the idea of resolving the land acquisition process without much hue and cry and further extended their unconditional support towards all steps leading to the formal inauguration of the said office at Yachuli.

Following the discussions, a committee was subsequently constituted to ascertain the extent of the areas that would be covered for the establishment of the offices and to make a detailed study of the families or landowners that would be affected by it. The committee, which is to draw its members from the local administration, ANSU, AYSU, and YCEF would also ascertain if there are any encroachment issues, and resolve the matter at the earliest; locally and amicably.

That aside, resolutions were also agreed upon by the members present to start the preparation for formalising the functioning of the Divisional Commissioner and DIGP (West) offices at Yachuli by November 7 next, by way of organising a befitting inaugural ceremony.
