ITANAGAR, Jun 15:  Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein attended the Convocation Ceremony of Institute of Technology & Future Trends College, New Chandigarh which was held at State Legislative Assembly Auditorium Hall, Itanagar for the Arunachalee students today.

 Mein in his speech lauded the private institute for their role in improving the quality of education in the State. He said that the private schools in the State has performed well in the CBSE examinations and urged to develop sense of competitiveness amongst the students to perform better in the examinations. He stated that in this competitive world one has to skill oneself and look beyond the State for jobs citing that the State Govt jobs are limited and the Govt will not able to accommodate everyone.

However, he cited that the State Govt is doing its best to empower the youths through various skill development programmes and also encouraging entrepreneurship through various subsidized schemes. He called upon the educated youths to avail such benefits and make themselves self-employable and independent.

 He further exhorted the young graduates to work hard, to be positive in their outlook and contribute something good to society and the State.

  He further said to look into the recommendations of the International Chamber for Service Industry to empower our teachers, youths and students in their endeavour to help improve the education sector of the State.

  Minister of Education, Honchun Ngandam in his speech said that the Govt is doing every effort to improve the education system in the State and to facilitate the students. He informed that the text books are being supplied to the schools and also informed that the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission will advertise and conduct examinations for vacant teacher’s posts soon. He said that the weak CBSE results this year was due to the no-detention policy because of which the students develop a habit of leniency and took the examinations in easy way. He opined that the effect of no-detention policy may affect the CBSE results for few more years. However, he was optimistic that the department will improve its results by next year.

  He exhorted the students to excel in life and let our State exposed and identified by their achievements. He said that we need to do away with the misconception and overcome the mindset that the Arunachalee Students are weak in Maths and Science and urged the students to work hard and concentrate in their study.

  Earlier, Dr Gulshan Sharma, Director General of International Chamber for Service Industry (ICSI) made a highlighted the activities of ICSI and also presented a seven points recommendation to the State Govt. He stated that the NE region has got potentials in Buddhist Pilgrimage which can boost the tourism industry through business and cultural connectivity between the people of North East and the ASEAN countries. He also said that the scenic beauty of the region provides an ample opportunity for Cinematic Tourism and 85% of medicinal plants are found in this region.

 He also informed that the ICSI is planning to establish a hostel for North East Girls in Delhi and beyond to start with.

 Lt General K J Singh, Chief Patron of ITFT College, Chandigarh also spoke to the audience through a linked video while Maling Gombu, Advisor to ICSI also spoke on the occasion.

Altogether 135 Arunachalee students received certificates of graduation and post graduation degree in varied disciplines.

 The dignitaries also released a magazine on “Emerging Career Opportunities for Arunachal Pradesh Youth and Road Map ahead” prepared by the ICSI on the occasion.

 Registrar ITFT College, Chandigarh, Rupinder Singh and parents were also present on the occasion.
