ITANAGAR, Oct 8:Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein called on Governor BD Mishra at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Saturday. The duo discussed various persistent issues related to the State, which need to be taken up with different ministries at the Centre.

In the meeting, the Governor emphasized on women education, time bound implementation of projects, multipronged actions against drug menace, computerization of land records and security for common citizens.

The Governor pointed that if 60% or more of the womenfolk are not educated, the State will not progress. He appreciated the State Government for taking necessary initiatives towards their welfare.

The Governor also took up the issues of encroachments in NERIST campus and refugees and infiltrations with the Deputy Chief Minister.

The Deputy Chief Minister briefed the Governor, who is going to attend the Conference of Governors at Rashtrapati Bhavan, on the progress and challenges in different sectors including agriculture, horticulture, hydropower, roads, power, security and airport. He also briefed on the proposed schemes and programmes in the ensuing budget.   

In-charge Chief Secretary, Ashish Kundra and Secretary to Governor, Vinod P Kavle were also present in the meeting.
