ITANAGAR, Sep15: Minister Research and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Mohesh Chai today inaugurated the State Archives building of the Department of Research here at its Directorate complex.

Established in 1977, the department has various vital records to be archived. Constructed under 
SPA scheme of the year 2012-13, the State Archive building would house all significant records of the state government since its evolution including administrative, political, establishment, judicial, education, medical, map/political map, boundary matters, socio-cultural aspects, religion, manuscripts, 
gazetteers etc, besides all other publications from NEFA days.

While visiting the Archival Records, the Minister termed the moment as a historical day for the 
state of Arunachal Pradesh and emphasized on the need to maintain records of various departments’ way back from 30 years in the State Archive.
The inaugural function was attended by Research Parliamentary Secretary, Gum Tayeng, Commissioner Research Dani Sulu, Director Research Batem Pertin among others.

Later, Dr. Chai along with the Parliamentary Secretary and others attended the departmental 
review meeting where various activities of the department was reviewed and discussed.
