SEPPA, Oct 28:

The All East Kameng District Students’ Union (AEKDSU), in a memorandum submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of East Kameng district has firmly opposed the partitioning of the district headquarters only general ground.

Expressing concern over the DC’s decision to hand over the community land to some football club, the union said that it has been a venue of recreational activities including hosting national events like Republic Day and Independence Day.

The union clarified that it is not against establishment of a football stadium in the district headquarters Seppa, but suggested that the football club be made elsewhere so that public sentiments is not hurt.

‘This decision is totally against the interest of the public and the DC should immediately revoke the order without second thoughts,’ said Chakang Yangda, President AEKDSU.

The union in another memorandum submitted to the ADC cum Estate officer, Seppa has urged to expedite the eviction drive of the unauthorised construction of buildings and encroachment of land in the compound of Government higher secondary school Seppa.
