ITANAGAR, Oct 25:The celebration of the inauguration of the Divisional Commissioner & DIGP Office (West) will begin from November 5-7 next at Yachuli, Lower Subansiri. The mega inauguration will host dignitaries including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Union Home Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Yachuli MLA Likha Saaya, former Lok Sabha MP & BJP State President Tapir Gao, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, and Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Kemo Lollen, among others.

Earlier this year in May, the State Cabinet approved to make functional the two Divisional Commissioners and DIGP Office with an aim to implement effective law and order management. After almost two decades of the demand being announced, that dream is finally being realised.

With the inauguration of the Western Divisional Commissioner & DIGP Office, Yachuli will serve as the headquarters for all 33 legislators of Arunachal West Lok Sabha Constituency. Gamli Padu has been posted as the Commissioner for the Western Division.

After almost two decades of delay in processing the people’s demand for division of duties, a final decision was taken after relentless efforts by local MLA Likha Saaya.

Apart from the formal function, over a period of three days, various cultural programmes will be displayed, showcasing the rich diversity of Arunachal Pradesh. An important part of the celebration will witness the opening of the traditional Nyishi longhouse (Namlo) which has become a rare sight in today's day and age.

The celebration will also include a ‘Bollywood Night’ on November 7.

Another major attraction will be a quick-change act from Russia.

Additionally, sporting events will also be held during the period as well as several food stalls serving local ethnic delicacies.
