ITNAGAR, Jan 6:
The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union has expressed its dissatisfaction following the Joint High Powered Committee meeting with the Home Ministry on January 4 last over the Chakma-Hajong citizenship issue.
This was informed by AAPSU President Hawa Bagang to media persons today soon after landing at the Naharlagun Helipad.
‘AAPSU has placed its demand for zero compromise on citizenship to Chakma-Hajong. They (Chakma-Hajong) want citizenship along with lands right which is next to impossible and the Union has registered its strong objection,’ he said.
Claiming that the Home Ministry official was uncooperative towards their demand, Bagang said that they have decided to hold another round of meeting here at Itanagar shortly.
‘We were not given enough opportunity to brief on our demands, so we pressurized the Ministry to have another final meeting at Itanagar in February next,’ he said disclosing that the Joint Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs will be attending the meeting.
When asked about the recent Chinese intrusion in Arunachal, the AAPSU president said ‘We have no place for China and we never had any relations with China. People of Arunachal have shown their patriotism toward India, they are stronger than our soldiers,’ Bagang stated.
