YUPIA, Mar 19:Director Family Welfare, Dr K Lego on Monday raised strong concern over high Infant Mortality Rate of the state which stood at 36%, and exhorted the health personnel to be determined and ensure no baby dies for want of service.

He also cautioned that if any trained health personnel fails to deliver their service which leads to death of a child, the person will be held responsible and strict action will be taken against them.

The director was speaking as chief guest in the eight day residential training on Integrated Management of Neonatal & Childhood Illness (IMNCI) for newly appointed ANMs from selected District Health Society in two batches which commenced today at State Training Centre, National Health Mission.

He later encouraged the trainees to train well in order to impart their service at their respective place of posting and help to bring down the child mortality rate.

Joint and Deputy Director Family Welfare, Dr S Bhattacharjee and Dr CJ Mongmaw were present on the day.
