ITANAGAR, Jan 22:Ahead of the ensuing Measles Rubella vaccination campaign, the capital administration today took stock of preparedness on the ground before its statewide launch on February 1 next.

Chairing the urban task force meeting on MRV, Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan discussed the preparedness and the action undertaken by each of the stakeholders to sensitize and create awareness regarding the vaccination.

The DC stressed that to achieve the target, involvement of all stakeholders is important. He further stressed that the role of the departments of Education, Health and ICDS is most important and asked the DDSE Capital Complex to disseminate information regarding the vaccination to every school. He further directed to organise meeting of teachers involving every school including Anganwadi centres.

Later, all the heads of different health institutions under Capital Complex presented the detailed action/IECs carried out by them to create awareness amongst public which included visiting every school within their jurisdiction.

The DC further asked everyone to coordinate and cooperate with each other to make the programme a success. He has also requested the councillors to mobilize and motivate residents of their respective wards to take part in the campaign.

The DC has also appealed to the parents to cooperate with the District Administration and to get their children immunized so that measles could be completely eliminated and to control rubella.

The DMO Dr. Subu Tasso Kampu informed that every possible way of sensitization has been carried out and hoped that the campaign would be a successful one.

She further informed that the vaccination would be held in every school, the schedule of which is available in the website www.itanagar.nic.in and the students can avail the vaccination in their respective schools. Moreover, those below the age group of 3 years or those who havn’t joined school can get the vaccination at anganwadi centres or fixed site at Itafort dispensary, RKMH, TRIHMS or different health units. 

The Capital Complex along with the other districts of the state would be launching Measles Rubella vaccination from February 1 next where all the target beneficiaries from the age between 09 months to 15 yrs will be given measles rubella vaccination irrespective of the vaccine status.
